  • Akashi Red Blended Japanese Whisky

This whisky is blended in the Scotch tradition with Japanese precision and offers a smooth, light blend made from Japanese malt whisky and grain whiskies.

    What’s in the box
    1 x bottle 500ml

  • Akashi Single Malt Sake Cask Japanese Whisky

This whisky has been aged in Japanese white oak for three years, but here’s the twist: the casks had previously held sake, giving the spirit a beautiful sweet and fruity profile. This whisky is, as far as we know, the first commercially released single malt to ever be aged in a former sake cask.

This maturation is all the more rare given that sake is not typically aged in oak for a particularly long time. The likelihood is that that Akashi have produced a sake expressly for the purpose of seasoning casks for their whisky.

But how does it taste? Initially sweet and cereal-driven, with notes of fragrant rice, malt, and milky porridge, which give way to oakier flavours of walnut, vanilla, tannic tea, orange rind, dried fruit, some tropical fruit and crisp green apples. There is also the faint suggestion of peat, green wood and some toasted coconut.

A rather spectacular whisky, especially given its short maturation time. This dram is bottled at 50% ABV, and only 2,400 bottles were produced.

  • Akashi Single Malt Sherry Cask Japanese Whisky

This expression from White Oak was aged for five years in sherry casks, and it’s brimming with sweet, unctuous character that makes it a glorious sipper neat, it would also make a delightful Highball if you want to drink it like you’re in Japan!

  • Chivas Regal 12 Year Old Scotch Whisky 1Litre

When our founding brothers James and John Chivas started out in business, they had one belief: Customers deserved only the very best. As a result we have been constantly seeking to evolve our packaging. For James Chivas, there were two fundamental principles of blending: ‘old, mature stocks and a distinct Speyside accent’. Master Blender Colin Scott adheres to those same principles today, with whiskies at least 12 years old with a generous measure of Speyside malts.

Those of you lucky enough to have visited our spiritual home at Scotland will have seen the luckenbooth icon on our Strathisla distillery gates. A historical symbol of generosity and friendship, it can now also be found embossed on our new Chivas 12 packaging. A ship was originally featured on labels of Chivas as a way to express the entrepreneurial spirit of the Chivas Brothers, as well as their desire to export their whisky to the world. We felt the new packaging of Chivas 12 was the perfect time to honour that tradition.

    Features:
    – Smooth, Rich and Generous
    – Matured for at least 12 years
    – Chivas Regal 12 is a blend of many different malt and grain Scotch whiskies
    – This rich, smooth blend combines style with substance and tradition
    – Notes: An aromatic infusion of wild herbs, heather, honey and orchard fruits

    – 2015 Gold Award – The Scotch Whiskey Masters

  • Dalwhinnie 15 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Dalwhinnie 15-Year-Old is a Highland Single Malt from the highest distillery and coldest in Scotland. Smooth, aromatic, heather and honey sweetness. Great chilled.

    Serving Suggestion:
The clean, heather flavours call for a neat serve, and perhaps a little still spring water.

    Appearance: Gold.
Body: Smooth, light to medium body.
Nose: A big, crisp, dry and very aromatic nose with hints of heather and peat.
Palate: Smooth, soft and lasting flavours of heather-honey sweetness and vanilla followed by deeper citrus-fruit flavours and hints of malted bread.
Finish: Long, lingering, surprisingly intense finish that starts sweetly, then gives way to smoke, peat and malt.

    Appearance: Deep old gold.
Body: Light on the palate, with a medium body.
Nose: Slow to give of its secrets, with mere hints of a fruity richness and spicy complexity to come. A swirl of the glass releases enticing, clean vanilla notes and tropical fruit. Soon, the fruits are dried (light fruit cake with flaked almonds). Adding water brings out typical Speyside character, and makes the nose slightly more acidic. Late on, at last, greater depth and complexity: sweet, spicy and rich, finishing with dense toffee and toasted coconut.
Palate: Slow to venture forth and quite viscous straight. Cooling, then peppery and lightly charred. Growing richer, still sweet, but now with toffee and chocolate; burnt sugar on a Cr me Br l e. With water, less viscous and sweeter with almost no acidity; very pleasant and easy to drink.
Finish: Smooth, light and slightly drying, with attractive bitter chocolate notes. Not overly long, with a hint of faint smoke at the end.

  • Glenmorangie The Cadboll Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The Cadboll is a Glenmorangie single malt originally released for the Travel Retail market which was initially aged in bourbon casks before enjoying a finishing period in casks that once held Muscat and Sémillion wines.

The name comes from The Cadboll Cup, a silver goblet dating back to the 16th century from which the Macleods of Cadboll enjoyed their wine. Not quite on the level of the Holy Grail, but at some point someone probably said “Let’s go get that Cadboll Cup from those people,” and started some sort of quest. Anyway, the name comes from that vessel and inspired the use of wine casks for this release.

Plenty of rich, mellow elements throughout this one (as you’d expect from Glenmorangie), with touches of sticky PX sweetness and herb-y spiciness.

  • Johnnie Walker Blue Label King George V 750ml

John Walker & Sons King George V is an exceptional whisky, crafted to celebrate the granting of the first Royal Warrant to John Walker & Sons by King George V in 1934.

Drawing on almost 200 years of knowledge, a peerless archive of records, and decades of experience, our small team of expert blenders, led by Master Blender Jim Beveridge, hand-select precious casks of whiskies from distilleries that were in existence during King George V s reign including whiskies from Benrinnes, Caol Ila, Cardhu and the now silent Port Ellen and Port Dundas.

Having hand-selected these individual whiskies, our dedicated team of blenders skillfully bring them together to reveal an indulgent depth of flavour – an abundance of spice and dried fruits greets you, balanced perfectly with notes of creamy vanilla sweetness, rich fruits, dark chocolate, toffee and a beautiful, intense Islay smoky finish. Best enjoyed neat.

Nose: Sweet, smoky aromas deepened by Port Ellen are followed by notes of orange and Mediterranean fruits and the rich fruit spiciness – raisins, figs and cinnamon – of malts from across Scotland matured in European and American oak.

Palate: Rich in texture, on the palate there s an abundance of spice and dried fruits from the Speyside and Highlands whiskies with European oak character, balanced by creamy vanilla sweetness from the malts and grains matured in American oak, together releasing layer upon layer of flavour: sweet fruits, dark chocolate, toffee, spices and roast nuts.
